By having two caregivers during awake hours, we have the extra time for giving hand & foot massages, playing one on one games, visiting and listening to stories or concerns, or helping you pull up your favorite show to watch on Xfinity X1 Cable, DVR, or Netflix.  Each resident also has their own flat panel TV.

Having the patience and understanding it takes to help others through their declining health stages, is always top of mind for our entire care team.  Redirecting a resident’s thought process by seeing a smiling face when they are not feeling well, is just as important, if not more important than doing fun activities with them when they are feeling great!

This is Kenda’s favorite time to spend with the ladies in the morning.  We call it “going to the hair chair.”  Every morning the ladies get their hair curled and styled.  We believe when you look good, you feel good!  As our residents hear people tell them throughout the day how beautiful their hair looks, it brings them great joy.

Do you prefer morning showers to start your day or evening showers to help you sleep better?  Whatever your preference, we will make sure you receive a shower twice a week.  As for dry skin, you can kiss that goodbye!  Our caregivers take the time daily to make sure your skin is well moisturized before getting dressed and after getting undressed.  They will also help with teeth or denture brushing, flossing, and any other hygiene needs you have. 

We pay very close attention and track when every med is given, and by whom.  We have a video camera in our fingerprint only accessible medicine storage area, plus we lock all narcotics in a separate safe.  We also count narcotics at every shift change. Whether you take your pills on a spoon, need them crushed and mixed with applesauce, or like to pick them up one by one, we will accommodate your needs.

One of the most rewarding aspects of our business is seeing family members decompress, and relax over a short period of time after their loved one moves in.  We’ve had multiple family members of residents who were spending every night either in facilities, or at their loved one’s homes, prior to their move to Legacy Gardens.  

By faithfully recording vitals, percentages eaten of every meal, all bathroom visit results on a daily basis, plus measuring weights twice a week, we are able to see immediately if your loved one is moving one way or another from their baseline.  We also pay close attention to how they are feeling, so the doctors can make slight adjustments to medications if need be.  

You will never feel left out of the loop again!  Curious about your loved one’s weight, how much they are eating at a meal, or how their mood has been today?  Just give us a call or ask us when you are here to visit.  Our care team does a great job at relaying resident details on to the next shift, so they know if someone is needing more special attention.

Many of our families have chosen to switch their loved one’s primary physician to Cogent Medicine PNW.  They have a primary ARNP who makes regular visits to all of our residents using their service, plus they are just a phone call away 24 hours a day any time we see a change in condition.  PT and OT services are offered through the skilled nursing division at Kindred.  From swallow evaluations, to mobile x-ray services, they do a great job, and they all come to us!

One thing is for sure, no two families are the same!  We’ve experienced just about every different type of family dynamic, from everyone getting along great, to siblings who cant stand being in the same room as one another.  One thing is a constant for us, and that is we treat everyone with respect and understanding.  Our home is your home too when your family becomes part of our Legacy Gardens family.
